Anna Netrebko wins the German Recording Academy’s coveted ECHO Award for “Bestselling Album of the Year” for her Deutsche Grammophon recording, Duets, with Rolando Villazón. The trophies will be presented at the 15th annual ECHO Awards ceremony on October 19th at Munich’s Philharmonie im Gasteig. The event will be telecast live in Germany on ZDF starting at 20:00. This marks Anna’s sixth ECHO Award since 2004.

On June 27, Anna Netrebko teamed up with tenors Plácido Domingo and Rolando Villazón to give an outdoor concert in front of an audience of 12,000 at Vienna’s majestic Schönbrunn Palace. The format of the concert was a repetition of the legendary performance the three singers gave at Berlin's Waldbühne in 2006, an event that coincided with the World Cup Championship. The concert was broadcast live on television in six countries and was watched by more than five million people worldwide. Anna sang music from her forthcoming solo recording on Deutsche Grammophon, Souvenirs. The album is slated for release this November.
Anna Netrebko wins the Classical Brit award for Female Artist of the Year. The ceremony, held at London's Royal Albert Hall on Thursday, also featured a performance by the soprano with tenor Andrea Bocelli. This represents Anna's second consecutive win at the Classical Brits. Last year, she took home the prize for Singer of the Year. The Classical Brit Awards will be broadcast in the UK on ITV1 on May 15 at 10.35pm.

Anna Netrebko stars in and records Bellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi. Anna Netrebko sang Juliet in Bellini's version of the classic tragedy alongside star mezzo Elina Garanca and tenor Joseph Calleja in three sold-out concert performances at the Vienna Konzerthaus. The performances were also recorded by Deutsche Grammophon. The release is slated for 2009.

Anna triumphs as Manon in Vienna. Anna Netrebko made a welcome return to the Vienna State Opera to star in the title role of Massenet's Manon in a production originally created for her in 2007. Critics and audience alike celebrated her portrayal of tragic heroine.

Anna Netrebko received Russia's highest state cultural honor at a ceremony held at Mariinksy Theater in St. Petersburg. Russian President Vladimir Putin presented Netrebko and three other artists with the title "People's National Artist." The ceremony was held in conjunction with a gala concert to celebrate the Mariinksy's 225th anniversary.
