Following a string of successes in Berlin, New York, Paris and Salzburg, Anna Netrebko brings her acclaimed portrayal of Leonora to a new production of Verdi’s Il trovatore at the Wiener Staatsoper next month.

The star soprano debuted the role in 2013 at Berlin State Opera, in response to which the dpa wrote: “For a moment, the spirit of Maria Callas was present at the Berlin State Opera.”

In Vienna, Daniele Abbado directs the production, conducted by Marco Armiliato. Anna stars opposite Roberto Alagna in the title role, with Ludovic Tézier as Count di Luna. Performances take place February 5, 9, 12, 15, and 18.
