Anna Netrebko Opens Teatro alla Scala’s 2017-18 Season

For the third time in her career, Anna Netrebko opens the Teatro alla Scala’s season on December 7 for its annual prima performance. This year, Netrebko stars opposite her husband, tenor Yusif Eyvazov, who makes his company debut, as she makes her role debut as Magdalena in Andrea Chénier.

Conducted by Mo. Riccardo Chailly, the opera by Umberto Giordano made its debut at La Scala in 1896 and has not been performed on its legendary stage since 1985. The new production is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the death of Victor de Sabata, one of La Scala’s cherished music directors.
