Opening Night Concert for the World Cup
Virtually everything she sings is breathtaking.
On the heels of successful performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall with Yusif Eyvazov and Vienna’s Summer Night Concert at the Schönbrunn Palace with Valery Gergiev and Vienna Philharmonic, Anna Netrebko returns to her home country to open the 2018 World Cup in Moscow’s iconic Red Square. She rejoins Mo. Gergiev, this time conducting the Mariinsky Orchestra, in a performance that also features Placido Domingo, Juan Diego Flores, Ildar Abdrazakov, and Yusif Eyvazov. The next day, the 21st FIFA World Cup begins and will be held in Russia until July 15.
The concert will be streamed live on Medici.tv. Click here to watch.
Following the concert, she reunites with Domingo as she reprises her electrifying portrayal of Lady Macbeth in an already sold-out run of Verdi’s Macbeth, conducted by Daniel Barenboim at the Berlin State Opera.
