On Saturday, July 14, Anna Netrebko joined opera luminaries for a special gala concert at the Bolshoi Theatre to commemorate the close of the FIFA World Cup. Held the evening before the final match between France and Croatia, the concert featured Ildar Abdrazakov, Placido Domingo, Yusif Eyvazov, Hibla Gerzmava, Jacques-Greek Biloba, Fabio Sartori, and Dmitry Ulianov in an evening of opera arias and duets.

France claimed their second World Cup title after they won the match 4—2, earning Europe its fourth consecutive title. The 21st quadrennial tournament hosted 32 teams for 64 matches across 11 cities in Russia. The 22nd international tournament will be held in Qatar in 2022.
