Performing for “Met Stars Live in Concert”

On February 6, Anna Netrebko performed a recital streamed from Vienna’s Spanish Riding School for the Metropolitan Opera’s “Met Stars Live in Concert” series. Joining frequent collaborator Pavel Nebolsin, the pair performed a selection of enchanting songs and arias, as well as two operatic duets with mezzo-soprano Elena Maximova.

Critics hailed Netrebko’s performance as “marvellously evocative” (The Times UK), and “[a] mix of glamour, showmanship and sheer vocal splendor” (Observer). The New York Times said that she sang with “subdued tenderness and mellow colorings” as well as “full-voiced radiance…[and] fearsome intensity.” The Financial Times went on to praise Netrebko as “sounding at her peak…with a generosity of voice and feeling.”
