THE FORCE OF ANNA BRINGS PARIS TO ITS FEET

Anna returned to the Opéra national de Paris at the Bastille last month to interpret Leonora in Verdi’s La forza del destino, her first staged performances in Paris since 2017. But time seems to have stood still according to the review in Le Figaro: “As soon as the curtain was raised, her warm and heady timbre, of a bewitching depth, immediately captivated the hall… Garnering the diva a standing ovation from the audience from the very first scene…And allowed the Russian diva, who has lost none of the generosity and intensity of her singing, to irradiate the Bastille stage and occupy all the space… Still capable of… bewitching low notes and spun high notes which offered so many moments of grace (an unforgettable “Pace, pace, mio Dio” in Act IV)!” (Photos by ©Charles Duprat/OnP)
